The book of John, the only Bible reference that I am aware of, lists St. Peters in a couple of sections but does not indicate if his name stands in the history of St. Peters as an Anglican priest or not. A third study notes that there was a great deal of dispute about St. Peters as an Anglican priest. He was considered as being a bishop as well as a pastor and in 1789 there was an open convention, with one or two exceptions, that St. Peters should be canonized as the first bishop of the Anglican diocese. This is not all. In the 16th century, St. Thomas was born in Normandy, and after his ordination as bishop of Caen-Artois he was called to the episcopate of Normandy. This was followed by three years of a missionary life for the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Normandy.
As a bishop of St. Louis he was a bishop of the Apostolic See but he did not attend the papacy and remained in Normandy the first three years before his ordination to St. Peter’s monastery in Saint-Maurice. This suggests that St. Peters was active in the Holy Sepulchre and was not a traditional Christian bishop, and he was in fact neither a bishop nor pastor as listed.
There is the more modern theory that St. Thomas St. Anthony the Great was an Anglican priest. St. Anthony’s Catholic priests included not just one but three saints of the cross, Saint Thomas, Saint Dominic and St. John the Baptist.
