We are privileged to have the participation of over 150 private lawyers who help us provide legal services to low-income individuals through our pro bono program. The pro bono lawyer chooses the types of cases for which he is available to represent in his own offices. We check potential customers for financial suitability and the nature of the deal before making a transfer. Alternatively, some volunteers come to our offices to give advice or help with admission. In addition, we offer malpractice coverage in addition to private lawyer coverage. If you are retired and do not have malpractice insurance, our insurance covers the work you do for us. Registration fees are waived for cases handled through our volunteer program. We may be able to assist you with expert fees and other significant litigation costs. Until you sign a prior agreement with a VLJ lawyer, you are responsible for meeting all deadlines in your legal matter.
