The Albany office of the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York provides civil law services to low-income residents of Albany, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer and Schenectady counties. Any Rensselaer County resident 60 years of age or older is eligible for this service, regardless of income or wealth. However, as resources are limited, priority will be given to those most in need. Although these services are free of charge, any elderly person who receives legal assistance has the opportunity to contribute to the cost of this service. We offer free advice, short-term service, referrals, municipal legal education and comprehensive representation in a variety of legal matters. Referral service from the County Bar Association, Rensselaer County Legal Aid Society or other appropriate legal service providers. Lectures and presentations on requested legal topics will be available at Seniors Services This program has the capacity to provide legal representation in specific areas.
